Beneath Our Feet

On a short trip to San Francisco in 2017 I decided not to bring my camera, thinking I wouldn't need it. I was antsy without it and, for some reason, I began to get interested in the sidewalks, something that had never interested me before. Since all I had was my iphone, I used that to photograph a few sidewalks just to have something to do, holding the phone flat, directly above the sidewalk, to create abstracts of the shapes and colors. I continued to do this off and on in other cities until 2023, using only my iphone, adding only contrast and color balance in Photoshop.
